I’ve been struggling to layer my latest Romantic Suspense WIP in a way that feels natural and authentic. I was getting overwhelmed with advice, tips and beats. This article on the website The Novel Suspects by Sandra Brown was the loving kick in the pants that I needed. She articulately simplifies what I need to do and now I feel like I have stopped spinning my wheels and can proceed.

Her main points are that the hero and heroine must share time and space, that they’re dependent on each other, but also forbidden to each other. This was a light-bulb moment for me. I had my hero and heroine in settings that were too thematically far apart and was struggling to have them encounter each other naturally. I am so grateful for this advice from a successful and established writer. It feels great to be able to move forward again!
